CEFALU' TOUR INCLUDED TRANSFER AND OFFICIAL TOURIST GUIDE

After picking up at your accommodation * and having reached Cefalù, the walking Tour will start at 10.30 am from Piazza Duomo where the Cathedral of Cefalù is located, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the most important monument of the city, rich in influences from the Arab architectural tradition and Byzantine. We will proceed with a visit to the interior of the Basilica with the famous Byzantine mosaic of Christ Pantocrator; also it will be possible to admire a splendid wooden cross of the fifteenth century and all that remains in this splendid Norman cathedral. Optionally it will be possible to climb the towers of the Cathedral ** and enjoy the beauty of the landscape that looks towards the sea from the top of the ancient fortress.Leaving Piazza Duomo we will begin our walk through the old town among the characteristic streets, the medieval buildings, the typical trattorias of the place and the lovely local craft shops. We will stop at "Porta Pescara", an ancient medieval gate and a place famous for the landing of the first Norman King Roger II.Here the famous Sicilian director G. Tornatore set a scene from the famous film "Nuovo Cinema Paradiso", shot in 1988. The tour will proceed with a visit to the Medieval Lavatory, which presents itself with a lava stone staircase leading to a pavement. smoothed by time and a series of tanks that fill up with the waters that flow from twenty-two cast iron mouths. Optionally it will be possible to visit the Mandralisca Museum *** with the prestigious archaeological collection and the Pinacoteca where there is the famous "Portrait of the Unknown", a masterpiece of the painter Antonello da Messina. The guided walk will end in front of the beach. Lunch not included. In the afternoon it will be possible to enjoy the splendid sea and go shopping or you can visit (not included in the price of the Tour) the Sanctuary of Gibilmanna or the characteristic town of Castelbuono. 18.30 Fixed time for the transfer to your accomodation.
